Aid for Australia!

Julia DupinceauJanuary 21, 2020

I am very horrified that more than one billion animals have died in Australia. Australin Fire services and volunteers is doing all they can to save wild animals in dangerous areas burning from forest fires.

I have few opportunities to help Australian surviving koalas, kangaroos and other endemic animals. I just can painting six animals on wooden slices: emu ostrich, platypus, kangaroo, koala, numbat and sulphurcrestedcockatoo.

Each piece of wood I burned by hand using Japanese «Yakisugi» technology. There is no fungus or insects on wooden products when you use it. Besides what such wood slice is look unusual and beautiful in my opinion. I like the creative process of burning wood slices and brashing them. On the back i made a leather loop to hang an animal painting of a wood slice on the wall. I wrote the memorable phrase: "Aid for Australia 2020" on every slice.

After I can sell these pictures I will send 50 per cent of the money to the Australian Wildlife And Wildlife Recovery Fund. Let's help the animals of burning Australia! Help Australia!
